Hot Prowler Went In Child's Bedroom

Oceanside Police are asking residents to properly secure their homes in light of two home burglaries that occurred overnight.

“In one of the burglaries, property was taken from the occupied bedroom of a child,” Sgt. Kelan Poorman said.

The child was not hurt during the crime. The hot prowl burglaries happened in the 5100 block of Via Malaguena and the 900 block of Manteca.

Police said the crook entered the occupied homes through either open doors or windows on the ground floor. The prowler hit the home on Via Malaguena first and then walked through a backyard, down a hill to the residence on Manteca.

“Police are asking residents to properly secure their windows and doors, keep lights on around the perimeter of their homes and be mindful of strangers and unfamiliar vehicles in their neighborhoods,” Poorman said.
