A 41-year-old handyman repeatedly beat a 67-year-old apartment manager in the head with a hammer after the pair fell out while trying to fix a fridge, according to police.
The men were working together in the 1900 block of Fifth Avenue around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday when they began to argue, Sgt. Alan Hayward said.
Police say the handyman punched the manager in the face several times, then attacked him with a hammer when he tried to get way.
Paramedics took the 67-year-old man to the hospital with major head injuries.
The 41-year-old man was arrested later in the day and booked into county jail, Hayward said. The case was being investigated as an incident of elder abuse.
