Coast Guard Rescues Family Off Santa Barbara

The rescue is captured on a Coast Guard crewmember's helmet camera

Family members, including a 6-month-old baby and a dog, were rescued Sunday after their boat broke free from its moorings off Santa Barbara.

The rescue was captured on a Coast Guard rescue crewmember's helmet camera. The crewmember was lowered to the water from an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Los Angeles.

Boats from Station Channel Islands Harbor and the harbor patrol assisted.

The rescuer boarded the boat and found two adults, two children and the family's dog. They were brought ashore aboard the harbor patrol boat.

Coast Guard officials said wind gusts were at 30-40 knots and swells were between 6 to 8 feet.

No injuries were reported.
