The Coast Guard medically evacuated a woman from a cruise ship off the coast of Point Loma to a hospital in Hillcrest Friday.
Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector San Diego received a call for assistance from the cruise ship Carnival Mircale, located 300 miles south of Point Loma, around 2 p.m. on July 31.
The woman, 35, said she was experiencing severe abdominal pain.
After the Coast Guard surgeon recommended the woman be taken to a hospital, rescue crews safely hoisted her onto a Jayhawk helicopter and delivered her to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest.
There is no word on the woman's condition.
