Clues Could Help Solve Underwater Mystery

New details were released Thursday about a decomposing body found off the coast of Mission Bay but who it is and how it got there remains a mystery, according to the Medical Examiner’s office.

Two spear fishermen discovered the body June 3. His legs were submerged in the sand in an underwater pocket of a jetty. Investigators believe the body had been in the water one to two weeks.

The man was most likely about 30 years old and 5 feet 9 inches, according to the Medical Examiner's Office, which is still waiting for the results of testing to determine his cause of death.

He was wearing size 32 pants, boxer shorts, a button-up shirt, black size 9 Avia ARC athletic shoes with bright yellow writing, and three pairs of dark socks.

Anyone with information on the man's identity was asked to call the Medical Examiner's Office at (858) 694-2905.
