Clerk Stabbed Several Times in Robbery

An Escondido convenience store clerk was stabbed several times in the back early Sunday morning during a money and cigarette heist.

At about 2 a.m., two men, described to be in their 20s, entered the 7-Eleven on East Grand Avenue. One man attacked the clerk while the other collected the loot.

The victim was taken to a hospital, and the stab wounds were not considered life threatening.

According to Escondido police, the suspect who stabbed the clerk was a heavyset black man of roughly 6-foot-4 height. He had a shaved head and was wearing dark jeans, a white T-shirt and a San Diego Chargers jacket with a lightning bolt on the back.

The other suspect was a white man, about 5-foot-10, wearing a black and white-pattered cap tied beneath his chin.
