Craft Beer and Music Merge for Festival

The CityBeat Festival of Beers serves as a fundraiser for the San Diego Music Foundation

What’s better than a bunch of craft beer at an outdoor festival on a sunny San Diego day? Sippin’ on suds while listening to live music and supporting an important organization.

On Saturday, the CityBeat Festival of Beers will merge all three of those elements as the event takes over the outdoor space in front of the Lafayette Hotel located at 2223 El Cajon Blvd.

From 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the frothy craft beer will flow as local bands like The Heavy Guilt, Hit Dog Hollar and Neighbors to the North perform live.

As attendees enjoy the tunes and beer tastings, the event will also raise money for the San Diego Music Foundation, an organization with a mission to enrich San Diego’s music scene through music education for youth, development for emerging artists, live performances for the San Diego public and recognition for local musicians.

Each year, the San Diego Music Foundation focuses its efforts on several programs that help advance its mission, including the Guitars for Schools program.

Tickets to Saturday’s Festival of Beers cost $40 per person and can be purchased here. Additional donations to the Music Foundation beyond that ticket price are kindly accepted, too.

There are a bevy of  breweries taking part in the fundraiser. This includes local favorites like Coronado Brewing Co., Belching Beaver, Green Flash Brewing Co., Karl Strauss Brewing Company, Hillcrest Brewing Company, Mission Brewery, The Lost Abbey, Stone and San Diego Brewing Co., among many others. The event will also include a host of vendors, including food vendors such as the Gaglione Brothers, The InSlider, Swieners and Wahoo’s Fish Tacos. San Diego CityBeat, 91X and VAVi will also set up vendor booths.
