Local High Schools Listed Among America's Best

A dozen San Diego schools made Newsweek's list of the best high schools in the United States.

Among those receiving recognitions were the Preuss UCSD charter high school, which was placed at 16th on the list. Other schools that ranked high were:

"This is an outstanding achievement for our students, our teachers and administrators, and our schools," interim SDUSD superintendent Bill Kowba said. "Excellence in education, no matter the challenges, is what's important."
