Swan Canyon Man Died of Natural Causes: Police

Initially, officers deemed the death suspicious upon discovering signs of apparent trauma on the man's body

An autopsy performed by the county Medical Examiner has determined that the death of a man in the Swan Canyon area resulted from natural causes, not suspicious circumstances as officials initially suspected.

On Sunday at around 1:30 p.m., a man in his 50s was found by a neighbor face down in the backyard of a home on 44th Street, officials said.

“The citizen went to check the man’s welfare and discovered the man was deceased,” Lt. Ernie Herbert explained.

Paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed the man’s death.

Initially, police said they noticed what appeared to be some suspicious trauma on the man’s body, and homicide detectives were called to help investigate the death.

Police say an autopsy was performed Monday and preliminary results indicate the man’s death was from natural causes, not a homicide.

The man’s name has not been released.
