City Council Prez Looking for Exit

San Diego's newly crowned City Council president is already ready to move on, according to a published report.

San Diego City Council President Ben Hueso filed papers to run for state Assembly next year, the voiceofsandiego.org reported Tuesday. He is hoping to take over incumbent Mara Salas in the 79th District.

Hueso became a councilman in 2006.

City Beat reported that former Councilwoman Toni Atkins has also pulled papers for the 2010 primary. She's hoping to take over Lori Saldana's seat in the state Assembly.
