Chula Vista Police Hunt for Burglary Suspect

Officers were creating a perimeter between Telegraph Canyon Road and Sullivan Court

Police were on the hunt Saturday night for a suspect who slashed screens and broke into a home in Chula Vista.

A woman told police when she came home around 7:30 p.m., she saw the light of a flashlight moving around in her backyard on Steiner Drive.

She immediately called 911, and when Chula Vista Police officers arrived, they found the screens in the back of the house had been torn open and the home had been burglarized.

As they began their search for the suspect, another homeowner called around 8:15 p.m. to report a bang on the back door and shadows running through the 900 block of Sullivan Court.

The suspect was last seen jumping a fence into a canyon area behind a home. That canyon borders Telegraph Canyon Road.

Police, with the help of sheriff’s deputies, created a perimeter from Telegraph Canyon Road to Sullivan Court.

Canine units and the police helicopter were called in to help with the hunt, but the search for the suspect was called off at 10:10 p.m.

Now, officers will interview witnesses and continue investigating.
