An 8-year-old child was left in a car in National City on Thursday afternoon, according to police.
Shortly after 1 p.m., two people began arguing and went into an apartment across the street. The kid was left alone in a car at the intersection of 18th Street and Palm Avenue, police said.
A concerned person called the authorities, and when police arrived at the scene the 8-year-old had a slight increase in temperature.
Since the child had a known asthma condition, they were transported to Rady Children's Hospital as a precaution.
Police said the suspect who left the child was not gone very long, but he was cited and released for child endangerment.
