2-Year-Old Ejected, Killed in Wreck

A two-year-old boy has died after two cars collided on the Imperial Avenue off-ramp from northbound Interstate 805, California Highway Patrol officials said.

A 60-year-old Bonita woman was driving a BMW when she lost control, veered to the right and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado truck around 5:10 a.m.

Both vehicles careened onto the embankment of the off ramp for Imperial Ave. and overturned.

A two-year-old boy riding in a car seat in the Chevrolet Silverado was ejected onto the roadway.

β€œThe car seat placement and means of securement of the seat and child are under investigation,” Officer Brad Baehr said.

The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital, but did not survive.

The 36-year-old driver of the Silverado truck suffered minor injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital.  His passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported to Sharp memorial Hospital.  The driver of the BMW was not injured.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
