Child Hit by Vehicle in Fallbrook

A four-year old was airlifted to Rady Children's Hospital after being hit by a vehicle, California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed.

The vehicle struck the child in the 400 block of Shady Glen Drive just north of E. Fallbrook Street around 6:06 p.m. Thursday.

People in the neighborhood told NBC 7, they came outside their homes after hearing a loud crash to find the little boy bleeding on the ground.

According to witnesses, the little boy was leaving an ice-cream truck when he was hit by a woman driving up the street.

A neighbor told NBC 7, he raced to the child's side after hearing the crash and began putting pressure on the his injury.

"He was conscious. He screaming and crying," Bod said. "We were doing what we could medically to take care of situation and just trying to keep him calm, keep him still."

The boy was airlifted by REACH to Rady Children's Hospital.

According to CHP, the child's injuries were declared to be minor.

At this time, it's unknown if speed was a factor in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle involved did stay on the scene.

No other information was immediately available.
