Chase and Shooting Caught on Tape

A wild shootout and chase on the streets of Pacific Beach Thursday afternoon is captured in a police radio transmission.

I'm down Ingraham, he's firing guns at me!” the San Diego police officer radios to dispatchers.

The female dispatcher responds, “Southbound Ingraham the suspect is shooting.”

The San Diego police officer started chasing Brian Marino, 24 and his passenger, Chantel Lister, 23.

“Oh my God, ok we are coming up P.B. Drive,” shouts the officer.

Police said the couple robbed the Radio Shack on Garnet Avenue around 12:30 p.m.
Seconds after the pursuit begins, bullets start to fly.

The officer said, “I am on Sea World, I am shooting back….he's reloading.”

Police say Marino shot at the officer three different times.
The officer's motorcycle was hit twice.
The chase ended about four miles away near the Sports Arena.
The suspects took off in different directions.

Marino ran behind a building and committed suicide.
The female passenger was arrested a short time later.
