Chargers Sign Offensive Lineman

Legursky To Replace Injured Hardwick

When the Chargers lost Pro Bowl center Nick Hardwick for the season, they had to find another interior offensive lineman. This time of year, with so many teams having just signed the players they wanted after a few rounds of cuts, you might think all that's left are inferior offensive linemen.

That is hardly the case for the Chargers.

San Diego signed Doug Legursky (one of the greatest football names of all time) on Thursday. He'll wear number 57 for the Bolts.

The 6'1", 315-pound Legursky can play center or both guard spots. He spent five years in Pittsburgh before spending last season in Buffalo. He's played in 63 career games with 28 starts, including Super Bowl XLV.

Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey was injured so Legursky made an emergency start against the Packers. Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger was only sacked once and the Steelers offense put up 25 points, so it's a safe bet that Legursky was a more than capable backup.

Legursky also has experience blocking on special teams.
