The Charges waived eight players: Wide receivers Jason Barnes, Taylor Embree and Philip Payne; defensive tackle Eddie Brown; long snapper Nick Guess; running back Michael Haynes; tight end Brad Taylor; and offensive tackle Phil Trautwein.

The Bolts also reached injury settlements with defensive tackle Garrett Brown and offensive tackle Michael Toudouze.

Rookie offensive lineman Johnnie Troutman was placed on the "Reserve-Non-Football Injury" list. Guard Brandyn Dombrowski was placed on the "Reserve-Non-Football Illness" list. Both players have to sit out the first six games of the season.

The Bolts play their final pre-season game Thursday night in San Francisco (on Monday head coach Norv Turner said both Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates will play in the game). The final 53-man roster must be finalized by 6:00 p.m. San Diego time on Friday.
