‘Chaos' After Wrong-Way Driver Crashes on SR-94

A wrong-way driver crashed into multiple cars on State Route 94 Saturday night, according to CHP.

At about 7:30 p.m., a man suspected of driving under the influence crashed into 3 to 4 cars going eastbound on the freeway.

CHP said the man was 65-year-old Selvein Parson, suspected of driving under the influence of drugs. Witnesses said they felt lucky to be alive after the chaotic incident and what followed.

Officials say he fled the toward Federal Boulevard off the freeway, then carjacked a woman driving a Cadillac using a screwdriver as a weapon.

He later abandoned the car and tried to evade police helicopters. He was found hiding under a pickup truck.

Meanwhile, 8 people were taken to hospital including three children. None of their injuries were life threatening.

Debris from the crash was strewn across the freeway which was shut down for about 30 minutes.

CHP says the man faces numerous charges including driving under the influence and kidnapping.
