Changing the Landscape of San Diego's Waterfront

Port Commissioners approve plans for a new user- friendly North Embarcadero.

The first phase of a $28 million plan to redevelop San Diego's waterfront has been approved.

Port of San Diego Commissioners voted to go ahead with the "North Embarcadero Visionary Plan."

The design would turn the waterfront along Harbor Drive into a landscaped gathering place for the public, by adding roughly 12-acres of open space.

Money for the project is coming from the Centre City Development Corporation budget.

If things go according to plan, the new and improved North Embarcadero will be ready in a little more than two years.
