Changes to Clairemont Mesa Boulevard Entrance to 163

Drivers should expect new signal lights and lane shifts on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard at State Route  163 starting Monday according to Caltrans.

The SR-163/Clairemont Mesa Boulevard Interchange Project is a partnership between Caltrans and the City of San Diego to reconstruct the westbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard on-ramp to southbound 163.

Drivers will be shifted to the left lane instead of the right on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, and there will be a new light at the entrance to the 163. Another light has been added west of the Kearny Mesa Road intersection.

The southbound 163 off-ramp to eastbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard has been moved ahead of its previous location.

There will be a new signal light to turn left onto eastbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. The new location will mirror the westbound side.

Clairemont Mesa Boulevard will be partially widened to six lanes. Construction is expected to be finished on the city funded $11 million project in spring 2016.
