Cash Crunch Cripples Colleges

Undergraduate applications to San Diego State University are down.

SDSU officials say the university received about 55,000 undergraduate applications for next fall, a 10 percent decrease from the record number received last year.

SDSU's associate vice president for academic affairs says the economy seems to be a major factor in why application numbers are down.

SDSU officials say the reduction is a trend mirrored throughout the California State University system.
