3 Injured in Carlsbad Shooting

Words were exchanged when a man got out of a vehicle and fired shots at the victims.

Three people were injured in a shooting near downtown Carlsbad Monday night.

A16-year-old male, an 18-year-old female and a 26-year-old male, were standing near Palm Avenue and Madison Street just west of Interstate 5.

The two friends and a girlfriend were getting ready to go for a walk Lt. Matt Magro with Carlsbad police said.

Around 8:30 p.m. , a dark blue Dodge sedan full of people drove near the victims. The car's occupants exchanged words with the victims according to Carlsbad police.

One man got out of the vehicle and fired four to six shots at the victims, hitting all of them.

The injuries were described as non-life threatening by police. One person was shot in the arm, another in the leg and the third received two injuries including a grazing wound to the abdomen Magro said.

Two victims were airlifted to nearby hospitals. 

The suspect's vehicle was last seen heading northbound on Madison Street police said.
