Two Arrested in Carl's Jr. Robbery

An officer saw two men matching the suspect description throwing a handgun out of their vehicle

Two men are in custody, accused of robbing a La Mesa fast-food restaurant.

The robbery happened at Carl’s Jr. 8110 Parkway Drive around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

The men stormed into the restaurant with a gun wearing masks and demanding money from the safe La Mesa police said.

They got away with around $1,000 officials said.

After an employee gave police a description of the suspects, another officer spotted a car at a nearby intersection just after 9 p.m. Two men inside matched the suspect description police said.

The officer followed the car onto westbound Interstate 8 and tried to make a traffic stop. The car slowed but did not stop police said.

Once the car got off the freeway, and on to Adobe Falls Road, an officer saw one of the passengers throw a handgun from the car.

The officer arrested the two men and booked them into county jail on robbery charges.

The suspects have been identified as Antonio Terrell Arnold, 31, and Mario Deangelo Townsend, 30, according to La Mesa police.
