San Diego’s First ‘Career Crawl’ Held in North Park

What’s your elevator pitch? Are you prepared for that potential job?

Some San Diegans were working on perfecting that pitch during the region's first "Career Crawl" held Thursday in North Park.

Potential job candidates received coaching, advice and even business attire to help them land that job.

“We like to say we’re the connector in the community,” said Rachel Cohen, San Diego Workforce Partnership. “We hope to be able to give them the opportunity they otherwise would not have the access to just because they don’t know the right person.”

The focus was on small businesses where owners or managers don’t have the time to recruit potential employees or attend job fairs. The partnership brought the job seekers to them.

“These small businesses care about their employees, they want to see them grow, they want to see them stay,” Cohen said.

Sixteen businesses took part in the event but Cohen said they hope to hold similar events in the future.
