Car Plows Into Pizza Shop in Lakeside

An Uber Eats driver picking up deliveries crashed into a pizza shop in Lakeside, Friday afternoon.

The crash was reported around 2 p.m., on Winter Gardens Boulevard at the Giant Bambino’s Pizza.

A silver Kia SUV crashed through the front door of the buisness.

Steven Barno, manager of Giant Bambino’s Pizza said it was an Uber Eats driver picking up food from his shop who lost control of his car.

“Before that happened there was a customer in that corner eating her food, she then left, I cleaned the table and when I walked into the kitchen all I heard was a big boom and that’s when I saw the car in the shop,” said Barno.

Barno said his shop did sustain major damage.

“We have employees that won’t be coming back to work, they have families,” said Bambino. “We’re going to be closed until further notice.”

NBC 7 spoke with the driver of the car who said his car jumped the curb by itself and crashed into the shop. He suffered no injuries.

California Highway Patrol said no one was cited for the crash.
