A driver wound up -- car and all -- in the San Elijo Lagoon near Encinitas Saturday.
According to authorities, the male driver ran his vehicle off Interstate-5 and ended up in the water.
The man was able to get out of the car and get to shore before officials arrived.
Authorities said the man appeared to be in good condition, but he was still taken to the hospital for observation.
A tow truck was called to help pull the vehicle out of the lagoon.
No further information has been released on what caused the man to veer off the road in the first place.
