Car Hits Tree, Catches Fire on SR-78

The driver appears to be okay and reported no injuries, said CHP

A car struck a tree heading westbound on State Route 78 and caught fire Wednesday morning.

The blue PT Cruiser was spotted in flames by an NBC 7 user who submitted a video clip to NBC 7.

Fire and rescue crews arrived at the scene at SR-78 and Interstate 5 shortly after 11 a.m.

Traffic did not appear to have major delays as the incident occurred on the shoulder.

The full extent of the car’s damages is still unknown, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP).

CHP reported no injuries or charges at this time.
