An 85-year-old man is facing DUI charges after crashing his car into a condo at a senior living facility in Oceanside Sunday night, Oceanside police confirmed.

Colleen and Jack Campbell, who live in the damaged condo, were inside when it happened.

"A giant crash, like a crushing sound," Jack Campell described to NBC 7.

The man plowed through the Campbell's garage damaging their neighbor's unit. Luckily no one was hurt.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. in the 3600 block of N. Vista Cantana.

Colleen said she raced outside and saw that her neighbor had crashed into her unit.

She and another man jumped into action trying to help the driver.

"A guy came and pounded on the door and told him 'unlock the door so we can get you out of there,'" Colleen Campbell told NBC 7. "He finally heard him so he yanked him out...but at that point it was like 'let's get out of here, this thing is going to blow'. It was pretty freaky. It's still pretty freaky."

The driver was uninjured in the crash, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

A gas line was broken in the crash, Oceanside PD said, and 30 units were evacuated. Residents were eventually let back inside.

The Campbell's and their neighbor's will sleep at a hotel tonight as their homes are uninhabitable.
