A 22-year-old man was hospitalized and arrested Saturday after police say he crashed into the garage of a Chula Vista home at about 5:15 a.m. while driving under the influence.
When Chula Vista police arrived on scene, they found a Honda Civic suspected to have been driven by Kevin Gonzalez. He was charged with a DUI.
The sedan caused a significant amount of structural damage when crashed into the house, located at 660 Diamond Dr.
The home was occupied at the time, but no residents sustained injuries.
However, a gas line ruptured during the crash, and nearby residents were evacuated until the gas could be safely shut off in the area.
