A Caltrans camera set over the Sacramento River has a front-row seat to a nest of eagle chicks just hatched with the last two weeks.
During daylight hours, users can see the mother feeding fresh fish to the babies.
This pair of eagles, known as the State Route 44 Eagles, first moved in and began to nest in the fall of 2004, but were not successful hatching any eaglets during the spring of 2005, according to a site updated by the park offering more information on the eagles.
What makes this nest so unusual is that most bald eagle nesting pairs rear one or two eaglets, but triplets surviving to the fledgling stage are less common, according to the Sacramento Bee.
