Cabrillo National Monument is Free This Weekend

Cabrillo National Monument in San Diego is one of many U.S. parks celebrating thee opening weekend of National Park Week by giving free admission to guests

If you’re looking for something fun and free to do this weekend, look no further. Cabrillo National Monument is offering free admission to guests as National Park Week kicks off across the United States.

On Saturday and Sunday, admission is waived for all national parks. Admission to the 133 parks that charge entrance fees has been waived before on national holidays such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents Day weekend, but this weekend is special in that it’s the opening weekend of National Park Week.

There are over 400 parks to visit throughout the U.S.

Locally, San Diegans can enjoy Cabrillo National Monument, which boasts the Bayside Hiking Trail that gives hikers breathtaking views of San Diego Bay and the city. Also, the Coastal Tide Pool Trail leads hikers to the tide pools along with spectacular views of the ocean.

One of the signature attractions of Cabrillo is the Old Point Loma Lighthouse – one of the eight original lighthouses on the West Coast. Visitors can check out the lighthouse during their time at Cabrillo.

Between hiking and exploring, the Cabrillo makes for a great weekend activity and is friendly on your wallet, too.
