Cal Fire began monitoring a brush fire in Mexico that is close to the border with the U.S. Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was burning about four miles south of Otay Mountain and smoke became visible from the U.S. side of the border Tuesday afternoon.
The fire is not a threat to the U.S. as of about 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Cal Fire spokesperson.
