Two searches are planned this weekend for a missing North County teen that has not been seen since the weekend of Feb. 13.
The family of Amber Dubois, 14, of Escondido will begin the search for their daughter Saturday and Sunday at their new search headquarters at 755 N. Quince St., near Mission Avenue in Escondido. Amber was last seen walking to Escondido High School on Feb. 13 and was seen once or twice in the following days.
The posters, flyers and emotional pleas from families are all too familiar to San Diego. The mother of an abducted and murdered 7-year old girl appeared at a news conference and begged for help in the search for Amber.
“I know this community has come together once before to help our family find closure,” said Brenda van Dam said of her daughter Danielle. “I’m asking that you please do it again for this family,” the North County Times reported.
David Westerfield, a neighbor, was found guilty of kidnapping and killing Danielle van Dam and was sentenced to death in 2003.
Amber's father believes his daughter is still alive and he vows to never stop searching for her.
"I sleep an hour or two a night, and last night I don't even know if I got that," said Maurice Dubois.
If, by chance, Amber did runaway, Carrie McGonigle has this message for her daughter.
"Just come home, you won't be in trouble, just come home," McGonigle said.
Although friends and family have said that Amber was a model student who would never run away, police have been unable to call the search anything other than a case of a missing juvenile. They have been unable to produce any evidence that would prove she was abducted.

Saturday’s and Sunday’s searches will be the second large-scale search for Amber, the last one taking place a week after she disappeared, the North County Times reported.
The family is offering a $50,000 dollar reward for any information about her whereabouts, and $10,000 for information leading to the arrest for those responsible for her disappearance.
