Kansas-based Title Boxing Club, a franchised national chain of fitness centers, is opening its second California location, in Carlsbad.

Officials said the club was scheduled to open Oct. 24 at 3247 Camino de Los Coches. It is being operated by local entrepreneur Brad Schwartz, who plans to open two more clubs in the North County region.

The company has 117 locations currently operating nationally, with more than 500 in development. Ten franchise groups have signed deals for more than 40 upcoming locations in California, officials said.

The centers offer boxing and kickboxing fitness programs for men and women, with large training-class facilities that have 50 free-standing punching bags used for workouts.

Headquartered in Overland Park, Title Boxing Club was started in 2008 by TBC International LLC. The company was founded by retired pro boxer and promoter Danny Campbell and Kansas businessman Tom Lyons, who remain among current ownership with investors including sports equipment distributor Title Boxing Co.
