Agents with the border Patrol said they found almost 40 pounds of cocaine in a Dodge Avenger in North County.
The driver was headed north on Interstate 15 on Tuesday when they made the bust in Fallbrook. A K-9 found the hidden compartment in the gas tank filled with 15 packages of cocaine.
The 23-year-old suspected smuggler has been turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
