Noisy Training Slated for Camp Pendleton

Howitzer cannons will be booming and jets will be flying above I-5

It’s going to be a busy and noisy week near Camp Pendleton.

Base officials want area residents to know there will be training exercises from 6 a.m. to midnight and drivers along Interstate 5 near Las Pulgas may see or hear jets flying between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The exercises are slated for Monday through Friday next week.

Explosions may be heard up to 50 miles away from the live-fire artillery training involving Howitzer cannons officials said.

The aircraft in the skies will be AV-8B Harrier jets from Yuma-based Marine Aircraft Group 13 conducting expeditionary airfield exercises along the highway.
