Bomb Scare in San Marcos a Hoax

A fake bomb was found in San Marcos Saturday night, prompting the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to temporarily close off the area, officials said.

Investigators found a three-foot plastic tube that had an alarm taped to it and wires on each end at around 11:10 p.m. near the intersection of Nordahl Road and Center Drive.

The find prompted an immediate closure of the area, and the bomb squad was called. Upon further investigation, the object was concluded to be non-operable.

Sheriff’s detectives are searching for the person or persons who committed the hoax.
