A man found stabbed to death outside an Arco gas station has been identified by the Medical Examiner’s office.
When officers arrived just after 6 a.m. Thursday, they found Richard Howard Iiams Swink, 56, with an apparent stab wound at 1900 Sunset Cliffs Boulevard. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are looking for a man who ran into an Arco gas station and told the clerk there was a man’s body on the sidewalk.
So far, police have no idea how the body got there, but they are conducting a homicide investigation.
"He does have trauma to his body,” Lt. Kevin Rooney said. He’s is asking the man who originally reported this incident at the Arco person to call police, they'd like to know if he saw anything else that might help in their investigation.
The motive for the attack is not known.
