Body Found Floating in San Diego River

San Diego Police Department officials located a body floating in the San Diego River Monday.

According to Darryl Hoover with the SDPD, the deceased body of an unknown male was reported around 12:40 p.m. by a man who had been canoeing on the river.

Hoover said the body was floating somewhere in the river between the 7200 and 7400 blocks of Hazard Center Drive in the Mission Valley area.

Lifeguards were called to the scene to retrieve the body.

Hoover said investigators have not yet determined how the body wound up in the water or if foul play was involved.

At this point, officials said the area is not considered a crime scene.
