The Medical Examiner's office is trying to find the identity of a man whose body was found floating in the San Luis Rey River Friday morning.
At about 9 a.m., a person standing on the bike path along the river's south shore spotted the body near State Route 76, east of Interstate 5.
Using a small motorboat, Oceanside police and fire crews pulled the victim from the water. They said the adult man was obviously dead and had been so for a long time.
The victim had no apparent signs of trauma or injury, Oceanside police said. The medical examiner's office took the body and will now try to determine the man's cause of death and identity.
No further information was released.
