Bicyclist Struck by Car Near Sunset Cliffs

A bicyclist heading north on Catalina Boulevard suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a car, San Diego Police (SDPD) officers said. 

The collision happened at approximately 10:18 a.m. Saturday when the 64-year-old bicyclist was heading north on the 1300 block o Catalina Boulevard.

A 28-year-old man was driving a 2003 Ford Expedition south on the 1400 block of Catalina Boulevard when the collision happened. 

Both men approached the intersection at the same time. The Ford turned left in front of the bicyclist to go east on Point Loma Avenue and struck the bicyclist, police said. 

The 64-year-old suffered a lower left fracture, dislocated left hip, and fractured left ribs. He was taken to a local hospital. 

The incident is under investigation. 

No other information was immediately available.
