Bicyclist Killed in Oceanside Hit-and-Run: Police

Police say they have located the driver responsible for a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in Oceanside on Sept. 20.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Philip White, 28. His cause of death is listed as multiple blunt force trauma.

White was riding his bike in the 3900 block of North River Road when he was struck by a vehicle identified as a green 2012 or 2013 Kia Soul (similar to the one in the photo above). The driver fled the scene, according to Oceanside Police.

Paramedics tried to save the 28-year-old man with CPR, but he was pronounced dead shortly after they arrived.

Investigators immediately began searching for a Kia with passenger side front end damage and a missing headlamp.

At about 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oceanside Police announced they found the hit-and-run vehicle and a suspect within San Diego city limits. The Kia has been impounded, but no arrests have been made.

The investigation is on-going, so anyone with information is asked to call the Oceanside Police Department at 760-435-4683.
