Driver Strikes, Kills Bicyclist in Mission Valley

The deadly crash happened in the 8800 block of Friars Road

A driver hit and killed a bicyclist in Mission Valley Thursday night, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) said.

The deadly accident happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 8800 block of Friars Road and Rio Bonito.

According to police, a 22-year-old man, accompanied by two passengers, was driving his BMW eastbound on Friars Road. As a bicyclist crossed the lanes on the roadway in a diagonal motion, the driver hit the cyclist.

Police said the bicyclist was killed in the collision. The driver suffered a minor injury, while his passengers were unharmed.
