Bedbugs Go to College

Students are known to sleep in the San Diego State library but having bed bugs? Ew!

According to the student newspaper "The Daily Aztec," almost thirty of the β€œcomfy chairs” were removed from the library. The paper also reported that there were accounts of infestation within some of the campus dorm rooms, although officials denied there was a problem.

β€œWe have removed the chairs, but some of the chairs were in need of replacement anyway, so now students will see fewer of them in the lower level of the Dome for the time being,” Mark Lester told the paper.

The the Harvard School of Public Health says "bedbugs are increasingly becoming a problem within residences of all kinds, including homes, apartments, hotels, cruise ships, dormitories and shelters."

No bed bugs were found on the chairs that were removed. Custodial services will begin making regular checks for the bugs, Lester told the paper.
