Chill Out at San Diego's Cool Zones

More than 100 county "Cool Zones" will open to locals looking to beat the heat starting Friday

With the summer heat upon us, the county of San Diego is ready to launch its 2012 “Cool Zones” program, providing more than 100 locations across the county where residents can go during extremely hot weather.

The Cool Zones program includes air-conditioned buildings where locals – particularly seniors – can go to beat the heat.

This year, Cool Zones across the county will be open starting Friday and will run through October 15.

Participating Cool Zones include several public libraries such as North Park Library at 3795 31st St., Mission Hills Library at 925 W. Washington St. and Central Public Library at 820 E. St.
