San Diego Unified School District dedicated a brand new multisport field at Baker Elementary School Thursday.
The celebration of the school's new field consisted of students, parents and staff and SDUSD Board Vice President Richard Barrera.
The school's previous play area consisted of decomposed granite. Thanks to Proposition Z that was passed in 2012, the school district was able to fund the project.
The construction for the new multisport field began this past summer and represents an investment of nearly $600,000 into Baker Elementary students as well as the Mountain View Community.
Students took on their new turf field shortly after the ribbon was cut.
