Attic Fire Sparks at Mission Bay Rental Home

A small fire sparked inside the attic of a Mission Bay rental home Friday night, officials confirmed.

The fire began just past 9 p.m. at a three-story residence in the 3900 block of Bayside Walk near Venice Court and the Catamaran Hotel.

By 9:45 p.m., fire crews had knocked down the flames.

Officials said there were six people inside the beach rental at the time of the fire, but they were all able to evacuate the home unharmed. The Red Cross was called out to assist the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Saturday, officials confirmed the estimated damage to the home was approximately $80,000, which includes structural damage, contents and minor damages to nearby structures.
