Unique Art Work Worth Thousands For Local Hospital

It was an impressive display of artwork to benefit Rady Children's Hospital. Some 300,000 quarters were used as part of the 'Miracle Mile of Quarters.'

The event is put on by the Kiwanis Club and various youth clubs across the county. All of the quarters will be donated to the hospital.

About 250 Kiwanians, from 60 clubs in San Diego and Imperial counties, community leaders, students, hospital employees and patients showed off their skills and design works of art using the quarters.

In 2008, the one-day event raised more than $100,000 for Rady Children's.

Rady Children's Hospital is a 261-bed pediatric care facility providing the largest source of comprehensive pediatric medical services in San Diego, Southern Riverside and Imperial counties.
