Armed Robbery at Robbins Brothers near Hazard Center

A man was injured in an armed robbery at a jewelry store near Hazard Center on Saturday evening, police said.

The armed robbery took place around 7:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the Robbins Brothers on the 7700 block of Friars Road right after the store was closed for the day, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD). 

A Robbins Brothers vendor was leaving the store in his car when two men in a black sedan blocked the man from leaving, police said. 

One of the men the broke the driver's window and, at some point, pistol-whipped the victim, injuring him in the head, police said.

The robbers then took items from the victim's car and sped away eastbound on Friars Road, police said.

The suspects were described as black men. One was thin, wearing a black hat, black hoodie, gloves and a mask over his face. The other was wearing dark-colored clothing, gloves and a mask.

San Diego police robbery detectives are investigating.
