Firefighters rushed to Alpine Saturday after a brush fire sparked near eastbound Interstate 8.
The blaze began around 3:50 p.m. near Alpine Boulevard and Tavern Road. CHP officials said flames were visible from the roadway. By 3:55 p.m., multiple fire units were on the scene.
Officials issued a SigAlert just before 4 p.m. impacting lanes on eastbound I-8 while fire crews worked to tackle the blaze. Get TRAFFIC updates here.
By 4:45 p.m., the fire was knocked out, and crews remained in the area mopping up hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
